According to a report by Gizchina, Oppo vice president Liu Bo has announced that the company will be launching an internet of things (IoT) platform. He also said that the company will launch its first smartwatch in the first quarter of 2020.
The IoT platform will be called “HeyThings IoT protocol” and audio interconnection protocol. As per the report, the smartwatch will focus more on health-related services. Bo said that the brand aims to build a multi-terminal and cross-scenario IoT ecosystem. The IoT platform will focus on four things. These are personal, family, travel and office.
Local connectivity and interconnection between brands
As per the report, the Hey Things IoT protocol will be able to achieve multi-protocol compatibility, local connectivity and interconnection between brands. Oppo will also release software development kits, protocol documents and modules. This will help to access IoT products faster.
The company will also launch Hey Things IoT service platform. This will focus on product development, service customisation, and data operation. It will also launch in the first quarter of 2020.
Audio interconnection protocol
The audio interconnection protocol will enable to connect third-party smart headphones and Oppo phones. This device will be launched in June 2020. It will also feature features like quick pairing and power display.
Recently, Oppo had introduced an AR glass and an intelligent 5G management router during its Inno Day event. Though the company had not provided much information on the AR glasses but it said that the glasses will be available from the first quarter of 2020.
At that time, Oppo had revealed that it will launch many more products next year including smartwatches, smart TVs and robots.
