LG’s Niladri Datta Joins IFB Appliances as Chief of Marketing

Another top shot from LG India has joined a competing appliances and consumer electronics brand in India. Famous as the man behind LG’s market leading washing machine business, Niladri Datta, has joined India-based IFB Appliances as its chief of marketing and strategy.

Datta confirmed the developments but did not reveal anything about his roles, reported a leading Indian daily. He holds over 24 years of experience in the appliances and consumer electronics industry.

It is to be noted here that Sanjeev Agarwal, who was working as LG India’s sales head, had joined the company’s air-conditioner and refrigerator businesses as sales director earlier this year.

Datta started his career with IFB Industries

Datta, who holds a MBA degree from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, has been working with LG Electronics since January 2004. He has served LG Electronics as its Deputy General Manager (Jan 2008 – Dec 2010) and national head – washing machines (Jan 2004 – Nov 2014). His LinkedIn profile shows that he is currently serving the brand as senior general manager, corporate office and as head of its corporate marketing.

It is to be noted here that Datta had started his career in the industry with IFB Industries as its marketing head in 1996.

IFB Appliances had recently ventured into air-conditioner and built-in kitchen markets. Regulatory disclosures filed by the company claim sales of Rs 1808.35 crore during 2017-18. IFB’s home appliances sales during the April to September period of the current fiscal year stood at Rs 1028.78 crore. These figures, when compared to last fiscal, represent a eight per cent growth.
