The brand has already launched M-Series smartphones targeted towards the millennial generation in India. Xiaomi leads the smartphone market in the country

Korea based Samsung is aiming to achieve a revenue worth $ four billion from its A-Series smartphone series in India this year. PTI reported that Samsung’s A-Series, like M-Series smartphones, will be targeted towards the millennial generation.
Rajiv Singh, senior VP, Samsung India told PTI that Samsung will be launching A-series smartphones with features that millenniala are looking for. It is to be noted here that Samsung’s’ mobile chief had earlier announced that the brand will be bringing innovation to its mid-range and mass vertical smartphones. He had also mentioned that Samsung will not limit innovations to its flagship smartphones.
Samsung to launch new A-Series devices
The PTI report mentions that Samsung will be launching one A-Series smartphone every month starting March this year. These smartphones, as per the brand, will be launched in the Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 smartphone categories. The report also said that the A-Series smartphones will be launched till June 2019.
It is worth mentioning here that the smartphone segment is led by China-based Xiaomi in India. The premium category (Rs 25,000+) is largely led by the likes of OnePlus and Samsung itself. A report published by Counterpoint research had said that Samsung held 34 per cent share in the premium smartphone market in 2018. OnePlus, that operates under the umbrella of BBK Electronics, was able to capture 33 per cent premium smartphone market share during the same time.
A recent Counterpoint Research report read, “Samsung captured 26% share of the premium segment and its shipments grew 72% YoY in Q4 2018. The newly launched Galaxy A9, world’s first quad rear camera phone, in ₹30,000-₹40,000 price segment attributed towards Samsung’s growth, which is in direct competition with OnePlus.”
Samsung will also be launching its M30 smartphone in the last of this month in India. It has already launched M10 and M20 smartphones in the affordable smartphone segment.
