Huawei’s official Twitter handle has posted an tweet inviting people to attend the Mobile World Congress 2019 scheduled to be held in Barcelona, Spain next month. The tweet shows a V-Shape device emitting light. The image, as per several reports doing the rounds of media, is likely Huawei’s first foldable smartphone.
The tweet read, “Come with us to explore Connecting The Future LIVE from MWC at GSMA. Are you ready to reveal the unprecedented? Huawei MWC, MWC 2019.” Huawei had also organised a pre-MWC briefing for press and Media in Beijing during the second last week of January.
Huawei 5G multi-mode chipset and 5G CPE Pro already launched
Huawei has already launched its 5G multi-mode chipset Balong 5000 and commercial 5G CPE Pro device powered by it. The brand had claimed 5G CPE Pro to be world’s first 5G commercial device.

Race to launch first foldable smartphone
It seems as if global brands including the likes of Samsung, Huawei and LG are locked in a race to launch the first commercially available foldable smartphone in the world. The upcoming Mobile World Congress may witness a lot of foldable devices being launched, World’s first models of commercially available 5G smartphones may also make their debut at the event as well.
Many reports have indicated that the global smartphone market has started declining. Some of these have cited ‘lack of innovation’ as a reason behind the slowdown in smartphone market. Others believe that users holding on to their old devices for longer periods of time is another possible reason. The launch of foldable smartphones and 5G devices may bring some respite to the declining smartphone industry.
