With Motorola entering the smart TV market in India, another big-name OnePlus is all set to enter the market with 55-inch TV QLED TV and 4K resolution and a sound output of 50 Watts. Pete Lau, CEO and founder, OnePlus, has already confirmed about the launch of OnePlus’ first smart TV in August. It was also confirmed that OnePlus will launch a 55-inch smart TV first.
Motorola has already entered the smart TV market in collaboration with e commerce giant Flipkart. One Plus is most likely to enter the e retail space through Amazon. Now, while this is being seen as a tussle between Motorola and OnePlus, it might also be a battle between Flipkart and Amazon to seek market dominance.
Rs 1000 crores invested in R&D center in Hyderabad
The Chinese smartphone maker has recently opened a R&D center in Hyderabad, where it will focus on developing future technologies of camera, automation, networking and connectivity, including roll-out of 5G. The company might use this center for development of smart TVs as well. The company plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in this Hyderabad R&D center over the next three years.
OnePlus is a smartphone brand owned by China based BBK Electronics. The brand is also the parent company of smartphone brands like Oppo and Vivo. OnePlus has other R&D centers located in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Taipei and San Diego.
Five confirmed OnePlus TV features
The smart TV offered by OnePlus will be a 55-inch QLED TV. Two confirmed features of this TV are 4K resolution and sound output of 50 Watts. The TV remote will feature a physical volume rocker on the side and a USB port at the bottom.
It will also have buttons for OnePlus’ custom TV OS and Google Assistant. The TV will also have built in eight speakers. A major reason to invest in this TV will be the free content that comes packed in it. Eros Now and Zee5 Premium have been confirmed for the content
